More accident-related paperwork

Does it ever end??? Today I finally had time to take care of myself and went to see a family doctor. She spent more time dealing with the paperwork than looking at me, because I need to go see an orthopedic specialist. It was good I went, because apparently my insurance company needed this visit to officially log this as an accident. There’s apparently some significance if it’s registered as a traffic accident or a work accident insurance-wise. I need to decide. They needed paperwork from both my employer & the police. I started the process at my company. The doctor also gave me a note saying I’m unable to work for a few days so that I can take some time to recover at home.
I then went to the police station with my co-worker who was in the car to finally file our statement for the accident report. The officer that started the process asked me why I didn’t do this in Afula two days ago. I tried to explain that they told me not to do it there and to do it near my home or office. He would hear none of it and basically said they were lazy and lied to me (surprised?). He took the statement and wrote mine up for me since I still can’t write with my right hand. My co-worker wrote his own. With the information completed, they have to mail the forms to the Afula station’s traffic department. It will take 10 days for the police accident authorization to be ready, which we need to provide to the health insurance company in order for us to not have to pay the 570 NIS ambulance bill.

Wow. I think that’s it! I’ve done almost all of the paperwork. This is way too cumbersome. I’ve got to go see the orthopedic specialist about my arm early next week, and will be consulting a lawyer.

As for the injuries, as I’ve implied, my arm is still rather useless and I splinted it today with all of the running around. My co-worker is still in some general pain, with some special focus on his sternum.

Other than that, I tried to call around to those involved in towing & storing the car at various stages to get the message out that I’d rather get my stuff back than file a theft complaint. I hope someone returns it, but will file if needed.

I also called my SAR team commander today to notify him that I’m on the bench for the forseeable future. Other than rescues, we have our monthly training on the 18th and a 3-day high angle rescue refresher course the week after that. It will really suck if I’m not back in shape for that.
