I’m going to be heading to Atlanta next month for work, but I’ll have a couple of weekends in which I need to fill - preferably in places that are far away from structures that have walls & ceilings.
After some initial conversations, I thought maybe I’d go to the Nantahala Outdoor Center either to expand my paddling from sea kayaking to include whitewater, or just to rent a mountain bike. For the 2nd weekend, someone at the Atlanta REI store said I should do a 2-night hike of the “Southern Nantahala Wilderness Loop”.
Are there any locals who might have some alternative ideas? What’s a good guidbook to help pick the specific trail in the Wilderness?
I’m really happy about the region, but I wish I had a bit more time. I’d love to check out the Smokey Mountains some more. I’ll save that for the next trip. Immediately upon my return from the US, Ana and I are off to Spain. Life could be much worse.
