Travel Plans Change…

It looks like I’ll be off to the US even sooner than planned.  I’m leaving in a week.

My two free weekends have been morphed into one, as the first now will be relegated to a travel day.  Can’t have it all, I guess.  I’ll still be taking some gear for a weekend in the Smokeys, and I’m really looking forward to that.  I’m also looking forward to spending time drooling in gear North American gear shops only slightly less.  The sparse selection here in Israel drives me crazy sometimes.

As for recent events…Ana & I went up North to Naharia so she could do a refresher dive.  After that, we went out on a boat dive together.  Ummm…boring.  Seriously.  We dove to about 4m and spent 40 minutes circling a wreck that if I hadn’t been told it was a boat there would be almost no way to tell.  It’s old and there is little left.  There were minimal other sights to see.  The only real potential for excitement came when after the dive, someone noticed that one pair hadn’t seen us come up.  The divemaster who led us was going to go down to get them.  After discovering that I was practically the only one with over 100 bar of air left, I went down with him.  We found them after about 20 seconds and signaled them to come up.

Oh well, I gave myself a bit of a pat on the shoulder when as a novice diver, I found out that many of these more “experienced” divers were coming up with between 40 and 70 bar each.  And I actually had always thought I was a heavy user.

This is going to be a week of intensive work & preparation for the trip.
