Someone I recently met emailed me that they’re coming back to Israel for a visit in September, and as I checked my schedule, I realized just how crazy the next few weeks are going to be.
This weekend I’m responsible for the monthly training exercise for my SAR team. It’s not that big of an issue because the purpose is to familiarize ourselves with a particular canyon (Nahal Ashalim) in which we have numerous winter rescues. So I’ve got the team splitting into 2 groups and hiking the route. No big deal, and no use of ropes even.
On Monday I’m off for meetings in Greece, returning at about 1am next Thursday. I’m lucky to sleep for a few hours since I have a lunchtime meeting. Then of course, it’s Rosh Hashana. Next week…2 days in Germany on business and my company’s fun day on Thursday.
I’m rather pessimistic I’ll be able to take this person out to the desert, so it looks like we may have to settle for a climbing wall. I did read that the wall in Haifa finally opened for good at the end of August. Since I took part in the opening celebration back while I was in the army, I’m a bit confused at the delay. *shrug*
