Happy Passover

Chag Sameach everyone.

While we had to work Wed & Thurs, it’s now a long weekend and Ana and I are in Arad through the end of the holiday.  The weather here has finally warmed up!  It hit 30 degrees today.  No more cowering under blankets, thank goodness.

The very high number of cars I see passing through town also mean that the desert is full of tourists and other Israelis who came down to enjoy the region.  To quote a t-shirt I once saw on the net, “support your local search & rescue…get lost!”.  Now that the weather is nice, this would be a really good time for a rescue.  You know…no injuries of course, but it wouldn’t be so bad to get out of the house a bit to go looking for someone who got a bit lost.

If nothing happens, we might go with some friends tomorrow afternoon to Golda Park to hang around and have a bit of a mini-picnic.  Passover is a bit limiting in that regard.

Speaking of which, Israel really needs to take us Ashkenazim into consideration a bit more.  It’s hard enough to find good food that is kosher for Passover, but since we don’t eat kitniot, we’re even more limited.  Nobody imports the good-ol Manishevitz crackers and other munchies from the US.  All of the crackers here either have kitniot or are based on egg matza.  On top of that, I think that in order to torture us, they try to find new and creative ways to stuff kitniot into food.  I found a light cream cheese today at the store that had kitniot.  From where????  The 5% mayo also all have kitniot, so that’s out.  I had an easier time in Canada.  If there’s any food importers out there, please try to bring some of the stuff from the US for us next year.
