I just heard a really strange story tonight. Sometime over the past year, it became rather suddenly quite common to see “How’s my driving?” stickers on cars here in Israel. They seemed to have all sorts of designs, and phone numbers. Now, I know that a much higher proportion of cars are company cars here, but did all employers sudden start to care about their employee’s driving at the same time?
I also saw them on what were clearly private cars. This is a country where recently someone saw fit to ram my car at 70km/h to push me out of my lane so that he wouldn’t have to slow to avoid a parked car in his. Did drivers suddenly start to care about what others thought about their driving?
So what’s the deal?
So here’s an interesting theory. Someone told me last night that they actually called to report a driver, and found themselves speaking with telemarketer. Not only was this operator trying to sell him something, but he didn’t even care about the driver. Apparently the operator gives out another phone number if you really want to report the driver.
I’ll have to find a few random samples next week and try this out.
