This Friday is Ana’s birthday, so the weekend plans are celebrations and family dinners instead of my SAR team’s monthly training. It’s a bit unfortunate for the timing, since it’s a multi-casualty & scree slope scenario which will be rather interesting.
Since there’s really only one good red wine that I’ve ever found her to like, I bought a bottle earlier in the week with the intent of opening it at the restaurant with her family over dinner. I had a sudden thought today not to take for granted that they would have a fixed corking fee so I called.
It was a good thing too, since at first the person who answered had no clue what “corking fee” meant. I had to explain exactly what I wanted to do, to which she said absolutely not - they do not allow this at all. I suggested she speak with the manager. A minute later, she came back with a corking fee of 30 shekel. Perfect!
Of course, then there’s the issue of the present. Ana is really not an easy person to buy a gift for, even before the limits she placed on me. :) For example, it can’t have anything to do with the outdoors and a few other restrictions. Hopefully she’ll like it in the end.
