Arrived in Nairobi

While the airline never told us why we were delayed for 3 hours, a security guard I chatted up told me that they were waiting for replacement parts for the engine.  I decided when I heard that to give them all the time they needed.

So we arrived safely.

Nairobi is amazing.  I’m really amazed by the architecture and the city.  Since it is one of the lucky countries in Africa not to have been torn by war, there are many old colonial buildings still in use.  They include their national courthouse, the archives and the parliament.

Unlike Nigeria, it doesn’t look like I’ll be subsisting on protein bars either.  There’s a Thai menu inserted along with the room service menu, and there are some nice looking vegetarian dishes.  I should probably mention I’m at the historical Stanley Hotel.  Other than weak WiFi in my room which may result in a room change, the service has been superb.  It reminds me of the Intercontinental in Kigali.  Granted I’ve only been here for 30 minutes, but I have high hopes.
