Being Tisha B’Av yesterday, I was fasting. It was made a bit unique by the fact that I spent the day in the “office” that is the hotel patio with people eating and drinking all around. However, there was a lot of work to be done, and that was the best place to do it.
Breaking the fast was certainly unique. The hotel has a great Thai restaurant, called Thai Chi. When I mean great, I mean stupendous. Everything was imported from Thailand, from the statues to the furniture to the chefs. I was also told that all of the waiters undergo professional training at the nearby university, resulting in exceptional service. Normally a bit concerned about meat handling in Africa, I was told that most meat in Kenya is actually Halal.
Due to scheduling issues I haven’t had a chance to check out the gym yet, but from a glance, it looks small but very well equipped.
Today I finally get out of my cage a bit for some meetings.
